„Today, having a female coach, means I can be understood, not just as a sports performer, but as a woman.“ Laviai Nielson, GB 400m sprinter & silver medalist 2017 World Championships
Triathlon is a very modern sport and women have competed at every level from the early beginnings. Multisport is probably the most inclusive sport I know, for example unlike in other disciplines female athletes race exactly the same courses than men, whether it’s a local race or a big international event.
But it is no secret that female athletes have different needs than male triathletes. This is down to different lifestyle, physical differences and changes in their body such as menstrual cycle or motherhood. I also experienced over the years that women have a unique mental attitude to training and racing. Along these factors there are many more aspects of gender specific coaching that need to be taken into consideration when working with female athletes.
To me it is essential that I not only implement female specific aspects of coaching to your training but also create a plan that fits in with your lifestyle in order to help you to achieve your full potential. Being a female athlete myself I can relate to all mentioned above and share my experiences with you.
